Route descriptions

Highlander
2day
Orion

The route for the 2-day Orion has been designed to wow and challenge in equal parts especially for first timers. You will cover around 35km of scenic Coastal trails and tracks, with 1300m elevation gain. For this introduction to Highlander Adventure, we have designed the routes so they start and end at the same point each day.

Orion Day 1

Your adventure begins at the Maitland Bay Information Centre, following Strom Trail alongside the main road before turning onto the Mount Bouddi Track. From here, the path leads you across Mount Bouddi and down to the stunning Bouddi Lookout.

Continuing on, you’ll follow the coastal trail past Cave Bay, cross Cave Gully, and loop briefly inland before reconnecting with the shoreline. The journey then takes you across the sandy stretch of Maitland Bay Beach, along Putty Beach, and finally up the rewarding ascent back to your starting point.

Orion Day 2 (same as Lyra)

The second day begins at the Maitland Bay Information Centre, where you’ll descend toward the coast and take in sweeping views from Marang Lookout. From there, follow the dramatic coastal track along the ocean, passing Gerrin Point Lookout before arriving at Putty Beach.

The adventure continues as you cross the peninsula to Hardy Bay, climbing towards Pretty Beach, before descending to the rugged cliffs of Box Head. Finally, retrace your steps inland across the peninsula and tackle the last ascent back to the starting point.
