All HIGHLANDER Mt Hotham events will start and finish at The General, Mt Hotham except for Pegasus which will be a bussed start from The General to Dinner Plain (15 min drive) on Friday 4th April departing 6.15 am sharp.
Arriving by car would be the easiest way to get to the event.
The Start and Finish will be set up by The General, Mt Hotham (with the exception of Pegasus which will be a bussed start from The General to Dinner Plain, but we will still all meet at the General Friday 4th April at 6 am)
There is plenty of free parking across the road from The General.
There are very limited bus options to Mt Hotham in Summer, but we will set up a FB event page in January to help connect people participating and explore potential car pooling options from Melbourne, Albury and Bright.
We are waiting on pricing for hiring a coach from Melb and will share cost and minimum numbers asap.
You can also register your interest in car sharing from Melbourne / Albury / Bright or booking a sear on a coach from Melbourne CBD to Mt Hotham return by emailing us at australia@highlanderadventure.com
A few days before the start of the event you will receive an email that will include your BIB number and the QR code you will be asked for at the Mandatory packet pickup.
In case you have additional luggage, please inform our staff about it during your check-in and they will explain the further steps.
The organizer will provide camping food according to the diet preference each participant chose during the registration process. HIGHLANDER Mt Hotham offers meat, vegetarian and gluten free options. All meals are distributed at the start and campgrounds.
Provided camping food is suited to the average daily needs of an average adult: paleo & energy bars, backpacking food and easy-to-prepare food such as spreads, cheese, cold cuts, and bread.
Participants can supplement this with their own snacks and extra food (as deemed necessary). We recommend bringing whatever snacks you are used to eating on the move e.g. dried fruit, nuts, dates etc. in addition to the meals provided by the organiser.
There are no stores or supermarkets at Mt Hotham, so stock up ahead of time. :)
You must bring your own water to the Start (minimum 4L). It is important to stay hydrated, so please make sure to always carry enough water with you.
Drinking water will be available on course at the aid stations (up to 10km intervals). We will not provide a means to carry it, so please pack your own bladders or bottles. The water refill will be available at all checkpoints during their working hours.
Mountain water is NOT safe for drinking, so using water purification (tablets/drops/filters) is a must.
As your safety is our number one priority, we reserve the right to check your equipment at the start.
Lyra and Orion events will start at 7am on their respective days, we recommend you arrive at The General, Mt Hotham no later than 6am to drop off bags, pick up gear, use toilet and leave yourself plenty of time.
Pegasus participants will need to catch the shuttle to Dinner Plain which will leave The General, Mt Hotham at 6.15 am on Friday 4th April. Please arrive at The General no later than 5.45 am.
