Route descriptions
The route takes you through the mountain, forest and leads you all the way to the finish line at the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
- The ultimate 100 km long hiking adventure starting on Zavižan will take you through the beautiful NP Northern Velebit via Premužić's Trail all the way to Baške Oštarije.
- Its beauty is shown in the spectacular views over the sea and the islands and path that leads you through Ramino Korito to Panos and all the way to the NP Paklenica.
The newer route will leave you in awe.
- Experience Nature park and National park in 51 km long route! Starting in Baške Oštarije, the route takes you to one of the most beautiful spots for the sunset - Panos.
- Leaving you in awe, the route continues to Veliko Rujno and through the National park Paklenica all the way to the sea to celebrate the HIGHLANDER Title.
Adventure that links the mountain and the sea.
- Start and finish your adventure at the Adriatic Sea! Starigrad is a great starting point for hiking lovers.
- The route goes from Jaz beach and follows the Educational trail Pjeskarica and takes you through Velika Paklenica to your first checkpoint.
- Starigrad offers real Mediterranean weather, giving you the option of celebrating the HIGHLANDER title by swimming in the sea.

- HIGHLANDER 1DAY is a unique circular route that starts and ends at the beach.
- Spanning 24 kilometers in a single day, this adventure blends challenge and tranquility, pushing your physical limits while immersing you in nature's serenity.
- It will take you from the sea to the beautiful karst landscape of the Paklenica National Park.
- The trail follows old shepherd paths and the Paklenica stream, allowing you to experience the canyon of Velika Paklenica and admire the view of the Southern Velebit and its highest peaks.
- This route represents a perfect combination of sea, canyon, and mountain, providing you with a unique opportunity to explore the natural beauty of this area in just one day.
- Experiencing this format will instill you with the confidence, skills, and stamina needed to tackle larger HIGHLANDER formats.
TRANSPORT TO THE CHECK-IN & START
Each format has its own starting point that is at the same location as its check-in point. As the starts of the two longest formats aren't that easy to reach, we organize the transport for you.
HIGHLANDER 5DAY - 1.09.
Bus is predicted to leave from Senj (Nehaj parking lot) at 5am.

AT THE START
As your safety is our number one priority, we reserve the right to check your equipment at the start.
Checkpoints are closed between 10 PM and 6 AM
You have to collect all the checkpoint stamps to receive the HIGHLANDER Title.
Checkpoints are open at specific times. During checkpoint working hours, our staff will assist you in obtaining your HIGHLANDER checkpoint stamp, water, and food.
Please note that if you fail to obtain the checkpoint stamp, you are disqualified and are not entitled to the HIGHLANDER Title, Pin, Patch, or Certificate. The participant is the only one responsible for collecting the stamp at each checkpoint.
