That's exactly how the members of the HIGHLANDER organization in Croatia spent the weekend.

They spent their first day walking and exploring the Pag's nature, which seems like it's borrowed straight from Mars. They started and finished their hiking adventure, which was 16.8 kilometers long, in Metajna, passing the circular hiking and trekking trail known as Life on Mars Trail. Their hike started and ended on the spacious Ručica beach, and on their way, they saw Slana Bay, Beritnica beach with its three recognizable stones, and much more.

The second day was dedicated entirely to cleaning the seabed and a part of the island from the garbage deposited and accumulated there.

With the help of the oldest diving club in Croatia, founded in 1954 - DPS Zagreb - this action, held in the center of Metajna, resulted in a cleaner part of the seabed.

Among other things, a total of 300 kilograms of garbage has been pulled out of the sea. It varied from bottles, tires, and plastic tarps to sewage pipes and even a table. The second part of the team carried out the cleaning action in the Pag triangle. Located there is a waste disposal site, from which the wind, which is quite common there, blows some of the garbage away. The terrible scene of trees and nature crammed with plastic bags and other trash turned into 400 kilograms of collected trash, which resulted in a cleaner nature. All collected garbage was disposed of in an appropriate manner in cooperation with the relevant local competent services.

The organization of this weekend event would not have been possible without the support of the Tourist Board of Novalja, the City of Novalja, and the settlement of Metajna.
